Matariki

Taikura Kapa Haka is an annual festival bringing together kaumātua from across the motu in celebration of the rich mātauranga and pūkenga held in our apārangi tūnohunohu.

In the lead-up to the national Matariki celebration hosted by Ngāi Tahu, Professor Rangi Matamua and Te Aorere travel to Te Waipounamu, following mana whenua as they collect local kai for the hautapu ceremony.

Matariki Kāinga Hokia - Matariki Calls You Home shows Aotearoa what Matariki is all about while encouraging viewers to embrace the kaupapa with entertaining videos that demonstrate “How to Matariki”.

This ground-breaking digital event celebrates Matariki through music with some of Aotearoa’s biggest stars including Six60, Hollie Smith and Drax Project, performing in both English and waiata te reo Māori.
